No faktycznie w przypadku Comodo to już trwa... i trwa... i trwa... oby jak już wyjdzie nie okazało się, że będzie miliard nowych funkcji - bo znając życie, potem będzie rok lub więcej łatania. Ciesze się że poprawili błędy, ale ten program z założenia działa źle i nie nadaje się dla normalnych zwykłych użytkowników.
Nadal to użytkownik ma wiedzieć czy coś jest bezpieczne czy nie, a jak nie wie to co ma zgadywać ?

Mogliby wykorzystać ogólne bazy certyfikatów zaufanych... ale one bywają używane przez malware, więc w sumie trudno się dziwić, że jest u nich jak jest. Inna sprawa, że mogliby chmurę pod to podpiąć i oceniać jak reputacją pliki.

a. w przypadku większości innych zabezpieczeń malware z prawidłowym podpisem będzie sobie robiło co chciało z systemem
b. CIS może być tak skonfigurowany, że nie będzie wyświetlał tych alertów w przypadku instalatorów i stosował akcję domyślną

A ja się do tego wariantu już przyzwyczaiłem. Jeśli ściągam instalator, to się nie dziwię, że żąda dostępu do uprawnień. Ale jak dostanę identyczny alert przy próbie otwarcia np. PDFa, to już się zaczynam zastanawiać.

Więc spytam się jak? Przy założeniu z postu Łukasza, że whitelisty/bazy certyfikatów nie są bezpieczne.

Certyfikaty są bezpieczne. Ale jeśli CA wystawia certyfikaty code signing byle komu to sorry,ale lepiej w ogóle nie wystawiać certyfikatów. Druga sprawa to kradzież certyfikatów już wystawionych.
P.S. Jak program jest podpisany, to nie da się wyciągnąć certyfikatu i wkleić do innego egzeka. Przypominam o znakowaniu czasem. Też.

Wydaje się być dawno nieaktualizowane, ale daje wyobrażenie o skali problemu. W sieci jest masa syfu, która jest podpisana. Nie mówię już tylko o hardkorowym malware, ale znalezienie jakichś adware z podpisem to 2 sekundy szukania. I bardzo mi przykro, oprogramowanie zabezpieczające witajace plik z podpisem z otwartymi ramionami to jest nieodpowiedzialność.

Powtarzam kolejny raz. Dobry wystawca certyfikatu zweryfikuje komu wydać certyfikat, a komu nie. Jeśli certyfikat zostanie wydany twórcy malware, to trudno... Ale widocznie CA bardziej zależy na kasie.

No jak widać rzeczywistość weryfikuje to co wyżej napisałeś. Można powiedzieć "to trudno" i stosować politykę potencjalnie sprzyjajaca infekcji, a można coś z tym zrobić. Uznanie, że CA nigdy się nie pomyli i że jest gwarantem bezpieczeństwa to jest niestety przykre złudzenie
Ja też bym chciał żeby tak było.

Comodo nie potrafi wykorzystać reputacji plików, serwerów z których są pobierane i ustalić zaufania do podpisów. Zrzucili całą odpowiedzialność na użytkowników.

To, że certyfikat używany przez malware jest wystawiony przez Symantec, nie znaczy że Symantec zawalił sprawę. Certyfikat mógł zostać skradziony, a właściciel nawet tego nie zauważył i nie unieważnił go. Może najpierw poszukajmy przyczyn po obu stronach...
