1.    General
F-Secure Internet Security Technology Preview (ISTP) is a continuous preview program for our client product line development and it is meant only for beta testing. It will not replace any product and it is not a product that we sell. The aim is to provide a preview of the upcoming features, and at the same time receive feedback on how to improve the features before launching the final products.
This file contains important information regarding the F-Secure Internet Security Technology Preview (ISTP) release. We strongly recommend you read the entire document.

2.1.    Operating systems supported
The supported operating systems for installing the product are:
    Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit: All editions.
    Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit: All editions, all Service Packs.
    Windows XP 32-bit: Home, Professional and Media Center editions. Service Pack 2 or newer.
2.2.    System requirements
The recommended requirements for F-Secure Internet Security Preview are:
Microsoft Windows 7 and Vista
-    Processor: Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent
-    Memory: 1GB or more
-    Disk space: 800 MB free HD space
-    Display: 16-bit or more (65000 colors)

Microsoft Windows XP

-    Disk space: 800MB free HD space
-    Display: 16-bit or more (65000 colors)

If the system has 512 MB of memory or less, the product will install in a performance optimized configuration, disabling certain advanced product features (which can later be re-enabled).

2.3.    Product Contents
This product enables you to install Computer Security and Online Safety point applications and F-Secure Technology Preview, the central access point to point applications.
F-Secure Technology Preview
-    This provides a central access point to point applications.
Computer Security point application
-    Virus & Spy Protection with Virus protection, Anti-spyware and Email Scanning for viruses, Blacklight scanning for hidden malware and the proactive 0-day protection technology DeepGuard™.
-    Firewall, Application Control, Intrusion Prevention and Dial-up Control.
-    E-mail filtering with protection against spam and phishing.
-    Automatic updates enabling you to keep both the databases and the software up-to-date against the latest threats.
Online Safety point application
-    Parental Control enables parents to restrict kids to browse only websites with contents which they approve of.
-    Browsing Protection blocks malicious websites and displays safety rating for websites
3.    Dropped and Unsupported Features
Features that have been dropped since previous F-Secure Internet Security Technology Preview (10.00 build 576) release include:
-    All languages except English removed
Localized languages will come back in future releases.
-    Exploit Shield
We have removed Browsing Protection’s Exploit Shield from Internet Security Technology Preview. This feature will come back in future releases of Browsing Protection in Online Safety.

4.    New Features
New features since previous F-Secure Internet Security Technology Preview (10.00 build 576) release include:
-    Online Safety point application
This application combines and brings back the former protection modules: Parental Control and Browsing Protection. With the new Parental Control features, parents can customize what kind of contents their kids are allowed to browse on the internet. For example, for their younger children, parents can block most websites with contents such as blogs, drugs or other content they find inappropriate. However, for their teenage children, parents can allow them to browse most of the websites and only block websites which contain for example adult or violent content.
-    Mobile Broadband feature in Computer Security point application
F-Secure Mobile Broadband feature requires Windows 7 with an embedded or an external (USB) Mobile Broadband modem. Only Windows 7 Mobile Broadband compatible modems are supported.
When the connection is activated, F-Secure security application downloads can be limited to save expenses and bandwidth.
Mobile Broadband has following modes:
•    Always download security updates except when roaming
This option is the default and recommended behaviour. Mobile Broadband modem can be used to download updates. Updates will not be downloaded when you are roaming, i.e. using another operator''s network. Using another operator, especially abroad, might be expensive.
•    Never download security updates
This option prevents F-Secure product (but not Windows or other applications) from downloading virus database or product updates when the computer is connected to Internet via a Mobile Broadband modem.
•    Always download security updates
This setting effectively turns Mobile Broadband feature off. Updates are downloaded normally.
When you are travelling abroad with your computer, Mobile Broadband will notify you only once that virus database and product updates are not being downloaded. When you return home, normal operation is restored silently.
Some operators do not have their own network. In those cases, Mobile Broadband may report false roaming. If you have only Mobile Broadband Internet subscription from such operator, you will need to select "Always download security updates" option.
-    New installation flow
Keyless installations of a security application at one go - facilitated by an invitation email. The installation begins by the customer receiving an email containing the information needed to get started. From the email, the customer follows a link that starts the download and installation of the products. All the products that the customer has access to are installed at once without any need for typing any subscription keys or other identification tokens. The future versions will allow installation of multiple products and multiple point applications as one seamless flow.
-    F-Secure Technology Preview
F-Secure Technology Preview is an agent serving as central access point to point applications. It facilitates the installation. After installation, it serves as a central access point to the applications and the subscription status.
-    Rebootless installation on Vista and Windows 7
Reboot is no longer required after installation on Microsoft Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. At present, a reboot may still be required during software upgrade situations.
5.    Known Issues
Please refer to F-Secure Support Knowledge Base articles for further information and advice on known issues: http://www.f-secure.com/en_EMEA/downloads/beta-programs/home-office/istp/index.html
5.1.    Installation
All other security products need to be removed before installation
Some 3rd party security software conflicts with Internet Security Technology Preview and needs to be removed before installation. Internet Security Technology Preview tries to remove conflicting software automatically as part of the installation process and in some cases this might fail. It is strongly recommended to remove all other security products before installing Internet Security Technology Preview; this applies also to previous Internet Security Technology Preview releases and other beta programs by F-Secure.
Cancelling installation will show Microsoft Program Compatibility Assistant on Windows 7 [71340]
If installation is cancelled at any point on Windows 7 operating system, Microsoft Program Compatibility Assistant is shown. The message from Program Compatibility Assistant states that “This program might not have uninstalled correctly” and is slightly misleading in this scenario. It is safe to click “Cancel” on this dialog.

Microsoft Program Compatibility Assistant prompts during installation
During installation Program Compatibility Assistant notification of ih8.exe having known compatibility issues in a product called “Telia Antivirus Säker Surf” may pop-up if you have installed Application Compatibility Update KB976264 for Microsoft Windows 7. This will only occur if you have installed KB976264 before trying to install our product. For more information, please see .
5.2.    Upgrade
Deepguard prompts for ih8.exe during Computer Security upgrade on Windows 7 and Vista 64-bit [71950]
During channel upgrade of Computer Security on Windows 7 and Vista 64-bit, you will get Deepguard prompts about ih8.exe. You should allow the process to continue for successful upgrade.
After upgrade of F-Secure Technology Preview, Computer Security can show up in malfunction state or you see a FSCUIF crash [72348].
After the channel upgrade of F-Secure Technology Preview from previous ISTP version, Computer Security shows up in malfunction state, because DLL hoster has not started properly. This error often also shows FSCUIF.EXE crash. This problem goes away by rebooting the computer one extra time.
After upgrade of Computer Security, the upgrade status of CCF BASIC- and Computer Security -packages is not shown correctly in downloaded packages list [71689].
After the channel upgrade from previous ISTP version, CCF BASIC and Computer Security packages are shown as not installed in downloaded packages list.
5.3.    Uninstallation and re-installation
System modification attempt –alerts during uninstallation
During uninstalling F-Secure Technology Preview, System modification attempt –alerts may be shown. It is safe to select the default option “I trust the program. Let it continue.” And click “OK” to proceed with the uninstallation.
Uninstallation of F-Secure Technology Preview, Computer Security and Online Safety need to be uninstalled separately
1.    When uninstalling, you need to uninstall all applications and modules in this order:
Online Safety
Computer Security (do not reboot the computer even though uninstaller suggest it)
CCF Reputation
F-Secure Network CCF
F-Secure Technology Preview
2.    After this, download and run F-Secure uninstallation tool from:
ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/support/tools/uitool/UninstallationTool.zip
This tool will reboot computer automatically.
3.    Delete Computer Security Desktop Icon
4.    Delete these folders: %ProgramData%\F-Secure and %ProgramData%\fssg
Unfortunately uinstallation is currently complicated, but a proper one entry uninstallation handling will appear in a future release.
Re-installation requires uninstallation of F-Secure Technology Preview and Computer Security and Computer Safety
If there is a need to re-install Internet Security Technology Preview, the old installations of F-Secure Technology Preview and related applications and modules need to be uninstalled separately in correct order, see chapter Uninstallation of F-Secure Technology Preview, Computer Security and Online Safety need to be uninstalled separately.
5.4.    Known usability issues
Two F-icons in task bar
There are currently 2 F-icons in the task bar notification area after the installation. This will be changed in future so that only one F-icon is shown.
Three F-Secure shortcuts installed on desktop
There are currently 3 F-Secure shortcuts on the desktop after the installation. This will be changed in future so that only one desktop icon is created.
5.5.    Updates
In some instances updates are not downloaded automatically before computer is restarted [71582]
In some instances latest updates are not delivered automatically to the computer before the computer is restarted. If you have any issues with receiving the updates, please try restarting your computer.
When some updates are installed, F-Secure program dialogs are closed automatically
When certain updates are received and installed, it is possible that your open F-Secure program dialogs are closed automatically.
5.6.    F-Secure Technology Preview
F-Secure Technolygy Previce agent is missing News and Account tabs (72325
This is intentional due to coming changes in the user interface.
5.7.    E-mail filtering
Spam Control does not work with Windows Mail after installation without reboot [71199]
After installation, spam e-mails will not be filtered to Junk E-mail folder. After the computer is rebooted first time after installation, the problem is solved.
5.8.    Online Safety
Scrollbar in Users window doesn’t work properly [72316]
In the Online Safety user interface, the users list cannot be scrolled and is limited to display 5 users. Temporarily, user is still able to use the up/down arrow on the keyboard function to view the entire list of users. This only happens in Windows 7 and Vista only.
Online safety users window does not cater to domain accounts [72183]
Online safety user interface currently only display local users account.
Internet Explorer 7 in Windows Vista might hang when multiple tabs are open [72321]
When multiple tabs are opened, minimizing and maximizing the Browsing Protection toolbar might cause the browser to hang.
Unable to minimize and maximize Browsing Protection toolbar gracefully in Firefox [71812]
The Browsing Protection toolbar in Firefox will only be minimized or maximized after few seconds.
Block page and web site is shown alternately within same browser [72329]
When user browse to harmful website, and clicks on "I want to enter this web site anyway", the website will be displayed. However when navigating to the same website again on another tab, the block page will be shown again. If you repeat it again on yet another tab, the website will be displayed. So clicking on “I want to enter this web site anyway” will have different results on different tabs in the browser.
Block Page is shown in Mozilla Firefox even though Online Safety is expired [72299]
Even when the license is expired, Firefox 3.0 will still display block page.
Unable to turn on Browsing Protection in Firefox and rating does not show correctly after reverting the system date [72297]
When user reverts the system time to the current time after setting it to a future date and causing the license to expire, user is unable to turn on Browsing Protection in the toolbar for Firefox. The user needs to close the existing Firefox browser and relaunch it in order to be able to turn Browsing Protection on from the toolbar.
The safety ratings are also not displayed consistently when user reverts the system time to the current time after setting it to a future date and causing the license to expire.
This happens on all platforms.
Block page header image is not displayed during the first time launch on Internet Explorer 7 and 8 [72282]
After installing Online Safety, and when navigating to a harmful website, or a page with blocked categories, the block page will not display properly – missing header image. However, once refreshed, the image will be displayed.
Different types of header is shown on block page [72319]
Two different headers are shown on the block page. One block page shows ''Online Safety'' in the header and another one shows ''Internet Security Technology Preview'' in the header.
Thank You Notification dialog box is still shown even though “Do not show this message again” was selected [72047]
For the “Notify Us” feature, in Firefox on Vista and Windows 7, “Thank you for the notification” dialog box will still be displayed even after users have check the “Do not show this message again”.
6.    Fixed issues
Issues that have been fixed since previous F-Secure Internet Security Technology Preview release include:

Zabieg bardziej psychologiczny Smile
